Alton Wong ,19, is currently pursuing his degree in contemporary music at UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur with Justin Lim. He managed to win first place at the 3rd Malaysian Jazz Piano Festival in 2017 at KLPac. He arranges music and performs regularly with his band, Kangkung Belacan, around Malaysia. He has performed at the 11th KK Jazz Festival, 12th+1 Penang Island Jazz Festival and Malaysian Jazz Piano Festival. His mentors who has helped him develop his skills include Michael Veerapen, Tay Cher Siang, Julian Chan, John Dip Silas, Grace Leong and Cheah Wei Li. He regularly participates in jazz workshops around the region besides attending masterclasses by NY jazz musicians Aaron Goldberg, Helen Sung, Greg Hutchinson, John Ellis and Rory Stuart.
