Sri Hanuraga Trio

Indonesia

Sri Hanuraga Sri “Aga” has his father to thank for his interest in music. His father was a classical guitar player and Aga had developed an interest towards the guitar in his formative years. At the age of 13, Aga saw a video by progressive rock band, ELP and it coerced him to learn and be good at the piano.

After studying the piano under the guidance of his father, he had since then continued to play in progressive rock and fusion bands; even performing at festivals such as the AMI Sharp Awards 2002. At age 17, Aga progressed with the jazz piano under the guidance of Indra Lesmana, a leading jazz pianist in Indonesia. He immersed himself in the music scene winning awards until he turned 19 and moved to Amsterdam to broaden his musical horizons.

To date, he has won numerous awards including Indonesia’s version of the grammy, AMI Awards for best jazz instrumental artiste. Early this year, he was commissioned by Goenawan Mohamad to pen down music for his poem, “Don Quixote” as well as joined one of the biggest Indonesian pop acts in Trio Lestari which consists of Indonesia’s finest, Glenn Fredly, Tompi, and Sandhy Sondoro.
