BORNEO JAZZ 2022 INVITES PUBLIC TO WATCH DAYANG NURFAIZAH LIVE FROM COCO CABANA, MIRI

 

MIRI 22nd June 2022 – Fans of Dayang Nurfaizah can catch her live on stage together with SONS of Majlis Seni Sarawak during their ‘Vibes of Borneo’ performance happening this weekend at the Borneo Jazz (BJ) festival on 26th June from 6:00pm – 6:30pm at Coco Cabana, Miri.

 

Meanwhile, Borneo Jazz festival’s daytime activities and exhibitions happening 24th to 26th June are free and open to the public. Whether you are looking to join a Wellness Programme, exhibitions on Borneo Stories (batik, tattoos and boat lutes), check out the local arts and crafts or join a Music Workshop, there’s something for everyone!

 

Culture buffs can extend their appreciation of Sarawak’s arts and culture from by checking out the Borneo Stories segment of the festival from 24th-26 June, 11am to 7pm which includes Borneo Boat Lute Revival Exhibition to study on boat lute processes and sounds, Borneo Batik Demonstration by Noel Belulok and Borneo Tattoo Showcase by Arth Akal.

 

For those looking for wellness activities which encompass healing and fitness, watch out for BJ’s Wellness Programme happening on 25th-26th June 2022, from 8:30am – 10:30am for the Yoga (Visualization Exercise, Yin Yoga, Vinyasa Hatha) and Sape session. There will also be a Reconnect and Recharge station happening from 4:00pm-6:00pm for both days.

 

Musicians can also take the opportunity to attend music workshops featuring Borneo Jazz Talent Search Masterclass, Sape Performance ‘Evolution of the Sape’ by Miri Sape Movement on 24th June (5:30pm – 6:00pm), Percussion Workshop with Steve Thornton Eco Drum Workshop and Jam by Lewis Pragasam and Steve Thornton on 25th June (3:00pm – 4:30pm).

 

Festival-goers can shop for Sarawak’s basketry, beads and more in the Artsy Fartsy Artisan Market. Additionally, there will also be scrumptious foods and drinks sold here.

The market will start their operation from 12:00pm – 9:00pm from 24-26th June 2022.

 

Other fun paid activities for adults include a cocktail making and tasting session, canvas painting and improv workshop. Meanwhile, families can participate in the Papa & I tote bag painting (kids above 6 years old), Pot Embossing (adults and kids above 12 years old), recycled art (toddlers below 6 years old) among many others.

Evening ticket holders can park their cars for free near the entrance of Coco Cabana.

 

Standing true to the festival’s mission in promoting sustainability, eco-footing and building a cohesive music, arts and culture ecosystem within the local community, the daytime activities and workshops is creatively designed to set in the value of preservation in arts and culture, empower and enliven musicians in Miri and promoting responsible tourism.

For the public category, 1-Day Pass is priced at RM128 per ticket, 2-Day Pass is RM228 per ticket and 3-Day Pass is RM338 per ticket. As for students and senior citizens, 1-Day Pass is priced at RM88 per ticket, 2-Day Pass is RM128 per ticket and 3-Day Pass is RM188 per ticket. For virtual viewing, tickets are priced at RM25 per one-hour block.

Borneo Jazz 2022

Themed “Jazz in The Jungle”, the 17th edition of Borneo Jazz will be held from 24th to 26th June 2022 in Coco Cabana, Miri in a hybrid format for the first time to reach out to the greater jazz-loving community worldwide. Performers from a host of countries namely Singapore, Japan, France, Switzerland, USA, and Hungary, not to mention the best names in Malaysian jazz will be showcasing their talent in jazz music.

ecoGreenPlanet Programme

BJ 2022 continues to advance Sarawak Tourism Board’s agenda on Responsible Tourism through its ecoGreenPlanet programme.  Through this greening initiative, members of the public can contribute to the programme where RM10 for each RM25 BJ ticket sold will be donated towards the tree-planting activities that will be held after the festival.
