ALL SET FOR BORNEO JAZZ 2013

MIRI, Wednesday – Borneo Jazz is back for another magical adventure of Jazz music this year. The event will be held at the Parkcity Everly Hotel here this Friday and Saturday.

Borneo Jazz organiser today received a handover of sponsorship of RM50,000 from Shell Malaysia, Miri from its Senior Manager, Upstream Corporate Affairs, Peing Tajang to Chief Executive Officer STB, Dato’ Rashid Khan at the site of Borneo Jazz festival.

Rashid says that, Shell has been the Festival’s partner since 2008 and their continues support for this momentous event is important in making Miri an exciting place to live and work in.

“We are proud to be affiliated with such an esteemed organisation and we hope that this partnership will continue for many more years to come” he added.

The festival is now at the final leg of preparation and the stage will be set to cater for the launch and the stage shows this Friday. The final Sound and Light test will take place tonight at the festival compound.

Complimenting the festival will be the Food and Village Mart offering a range of local and international cuisines to the ethnic handicraft. There are a total of 16 food vendors and 7 selling souvenirs and handicraft as well as other merchandise.

The festival will also feature performances by the Chung Hwa School Marching Band for the second year at Borneo Jazz. The band representing all local Mirian Chung Hwa school students will perform at the festival compound on the evening of Friday and Saturday before the stage show begins at 7:30pm.

The 8th edition of Borneo Jazz this year will see 8 bands making their debut appearance on Borneo Jazz stage in Miri, Sarawak, and they are all award winners.

It will see two bands from United States, one each from Sweden, Germany, Canada, Australia and one comprising big names from Asia and another local Malaysian band from Sarawak. Their music ranges from blues, fusion, ethno jazz as well as capella jazz (with their rendition of Lion King’s “The Lion Sleeps Tonight’).
