Dhruv Ghanekar is a composer, producer and respected guitar player from Mumbai who has performed and collaborated with Richard Bona, Zakir Hussein, Sultan Khan, Trilok Gurtu, Raul Midon, Etienne M’bappe, Ranjit Barot, Louiz Banks to name a few… Dhruv is an alumnus of the Berkelee School of Music, he is one of the founding partners of Smoke Music Productions (now Blue Frog Production), the leading production house in India. He has composed over 3000 commercials for advertising,and television and film. “Distance” is Dhruv’s debut as a solo artist, released in 2009 on blueFROG Records, containing virtuosic arrangements and peaceful sounds blending jazz, contemporary Indian roots and rock, recorded over three years across two continents with some of the finest musicians from India, USA and Europe (Joey Heredia, Carl Clements, the Ploctones, Hussain Jiffry). “Distance” is the natural result of Dhruv’s songwriting and recording path, and is easily the finest album of its genre in recent times. Dhruv is now recording his second album, exploring this time African sounds amongst others, with special guests from all over the world.
