Indonesian Rising Star to perform at Borneo Jazz 2012

KUCHING, May 1, 2012 –  Virtuoso pianist Nita Aartsen has been described as the rising star of Classical and Jazz inIndonesia. She has held the post of State Pianist for 15 years and while in that capacity, she had the privilege of playing for world dignitaries including the president of the United States.  Nita, in her own indomitable style has taken from the more formal Classical genre and has turned it into feet-tapping, hip-swaying Latino music with a generous helping of Jazz. The result is fun and enjoyable.

Nita was born inJakarta,Indonesiaand started learning the piano at the tender age of five. She attended the Moscow Conservatory learning Contemporary Jazz. She also  lived and worked inHollandfor a while, working with Dutch musicians in the studio and also at live performances. Back in Jakarta, she slowly built a strong foundation upon which to launch herself into the world stage. Nita has also performed at the annual Java Jazz Festival.

She will be making her debut in Malaysia on the 8 and 9 May at a preview to be held at Taylors University Lakeside Campus at Subang Jaya, Selangor. The Borneo Jazz 2012 main shows will take place in Miri from 11-12 May 2012 and Nita will be performing on the 1st night.

The festival is just around the corner so if you have not got your tickets, grab them now. Tickets are still available online and also at all Visitors Information Centres in Kuching, Sibu & Miri.
