Borneo Jazz Festival – Day 2

At 7.30pm it was SHOWTIME! The first was by The Asian Jazz All Stars Power Quartet with its members from Singapore, Hong Kong Philippines and Thailand. It was a nice groovy set that got the crowd in the mood for the evening.

Second band on stage was blues/folk/world fusion/jazz musical group from New York…HAZMAT MODINE.

The third band of the night was the much anticipated MO” BLOW from Germany. Performing on the same day of their arrival , these guys rocked the Miri with their JAZZ FUNK.

Among the performers present for the press conference were Lisa (vocal stylist) & Ben Robertson (Double Bass) from Lisa Young Quartet (Australia), Claude Morrison & Gavin Hope from The Nylons (Canada), Steve Nelson (Saxophone) & Wade Schuman (Lead Vocalist) from (New York City, USA) as well as our very own Eugene Suboh & Mohamad Sahfri from West Jazz Band (Malaysia).

Miri 9th May – It was our first day in Miri and i’s the eve of the Borneo Jazz Festival 2013 located at the Parkcity Everly Hotel Miri.Today was all about the media registration and the press conference with Dato’ Rashid Khan (CEO of Sarawak Tourism Board), Angelina Patricia Bateman (Director of Corporate Communication) and Yeoh Jun Lin (Artistic Director). Dato Rashid was enlightening us on the Festival and the expansion plans in the coming years. He also took the opportunity to give us the sneak peak of the Borneo World Music Expo that will be taking place in June .
